Visual Identity:
Patterns and Textures in the City of Macau(território)

This research project focuses on acquiring theoretical knowledge and examining studies that map the city through its textures, patterns, and signage, providing invaluable tools in unravelling Macau's visual and identity-related positioning. By unravelling the characteristic identity of the city through its patterns and textures, we can gain profound insights into its unique essence. It combines three areas of study: traditional historical research on a city's visual identity, digital visual mapping and creation of a database based on the city’s fieldwork, and design research practises when developing new design content that adheres to particular norms and guidelines.
